in situ:
Editorial Design, Exhibition Design
"in situ: Contemporary Installation Art" is a hypothetical exhibition that explores the symbiotic relationship between installation art and the space, featuring works by Olafur Eliasson, James Turrell, Chiharu Shiota, and Park McArthur.

I curated this exhibition as an unconventional gallery experience, where the space itself becomes an integral part of the art. Each artist uses the gallery as a canvas, and my exhibition booklet reflects this ethos by giving space back to the artists' work.

IDENTITY"in situ" captures the essence of art happening right here, right now. The three dots in its wordmark cleverly highlight this sense of immediacy, reflecting the dynamic nature of the installations as they interact with the space around them.

FORMATThe exhibition booklet adopts a tabloid newspaper format, intentionally reflecting the openness and spatial qualities of installation art within the gallery. It also echoes the temporary, site-specific nature of the work. Unlike traditional catalogs, newspapers invite tactile interaction—folding, marking, or even taking them home—turning them into both documentation and an extension of the installation itself.

The booklet’s transparency, inherent to the paper, enhances the layering of typography, allowing the text to interact with space and function as a conceptual floor plan.

LAYOUTI divide the artists' chapters into four distinct sections, with the divider page highlighting both their expertise and a key concept in contemporary installation art. Each artist's section features either an interview or a narrative about the exhibition, followed by an image of their work. The colon serves not only as a point of explanation but also as a closing element for each chapter.

EXHIBITION WALL The wall serves as both an introduction and an active participant in the spatial experience, inviting visitors to engage with the space and reinforcing the idea that installation art is inseparable from its environment.
